Jason Wright to Transition into Senior Adviser Role Following 2024 Season
Jason Wright, the dynamic and pioneering executive at the helm of the Washington Commanders, has announced his plan to step down from his current role following the 2024 season. Wright, who made history as the first Black president of an NFL team, will transition into a new role as a senior adviser, focusing primarily on ensuring the completion of the Commanders' new stadium deal.
"Given all those accomplishments, that's why I am proud to announce I will remain with the team throughout the 2024-2025 season, with the same responsibilities. In particular, I look forward to helping the organization complete its new stadium deal," Wright stated.
A Transformative Tenure
Wright's tenure with the Commanders began in 2020, during a particularly tumultuous time for the franchise, then known as the Washington Football Team. Under his guidance, the team underwent significant changes, including a major rebranding effort in 2022 that saw them become the Washington Commanders. His leadership has been widely credited with steering the franchise through periods of immense challenge and uncertainty.
"I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished over the past four years. Together with an amazing team of professionals, we have taken this franchise through a period of immense challenge and uncertainty and have transformed it. We've set the table for an incredibly bright future under Josh's leadership," Wright reflected.
Wright also played a pivotal role in the transition of the team's ownership from Dan Snyder to Josh Harris.
