These stats highlighted his potential as a well-rounded player capable of making significant contributions both offensively and defensively.
This year, through 124 games, Volpe is hitting .247/.297/.383. His current stats include 23 doubles, seven triples, 11 homers, 46 RBI, 76 runs, 20 steals, and a 2.9 WAR. These numbers reflect a mixed bag; while there are positives such as his increased run tally and consistent extra-base hits, the decline in his offensive stats remains a concern.
Additionally, Volpe has recently gone 4 for his last 42, with 15 strikeouts and three walks. This slump further dampens his overall performance, making his contribution at the plate a point of scrutiny. Despite these struggles, Volpe maintains a strong defensive presence at shortstop, which continues to be an asset for the team.
